Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect what the app needs to plan and price your meals, and nothing for advertising.
- No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of your data for marketing.
- Your diet and allergy answers are used only to keep the wrong foods out of your meals.
- You can delete your account and everything saved to it from inside the app, at any time.
Who we are
WisprFood is an iPhone app that plans a week of meals and prices them at the supermarket you choose. It is run by Kesitics Studios ("we"), the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at kesitics.studios@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Account: your email address, your name if Google or Apple shares it, and an account ID. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, and we only see Apple's relay address. | To sign you in and keep your plan on your account, so it's there on any device. |
| Your household: how many adults and children you plan for, their diets and allergies, foods to avoid, your weekly budget, country, supermarket, meals and days you cook, cooking time, kitchen appliances, meal preferences, and how you heard about us. | To build a week of meals that everyone at your table can eat, within your budget, priced at your shop. "How you heard about us" is optional and only tells us what's working. |
| Your plan: the recipes in your week, recipes you save, and items you tick off your grocery list. | To show you your week, your list and your saved recipes. |
| Fridge scans: a photo you choose to take or pick, and a record of when you scanned and how many ingredients were found. | To tell you what's in your fridge and suggest meals. The record of scans limits how many a day can be made. |
Diet and allergy information
Allergies and diets can reveal health information, which data-protection law treats with extra care. We ask for them only so the app never plans a meal with something you've told us to avoid, and we use them for nothing else. By entering them you give us your explicit consent to use them this way. You can change or remove them at any time in Profile, and they are deleted with your account.
WisprFood is not a medical service. Always check labels: recipes and ingredient information may contain mistakes.
Fridge photos
When you scan your fridge, the photo is sent to our server and on to Anthropic, whose AI model identifies the ingredients in it. We do not store the photo: once the list of ingredients comes back, it is discarded. Anthropic processes it as our service provider and does not use it to train its models.
What stays on your phone
Some things never leave your iPhone: which meals you've marked cooked or skipped, your under-budget streak, recipes you import, your language, and when the app last asked you for a review. A reminder before your free trial ends is scheduled on your phone if you allow notifications. Your country is suggested from your phone's region setting, which is read on the phone.
Payments
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card or payment details; the app only learns from Apple whether your subscription is active.
Who processes your data for us
- Supabase hosts your account and the data above, in the European Union.
- Google and Apple, if you sign in with them, confirm who you are.
- Anthropic identifies the ingredients in fridge photos, as described above. Anthropic is based in the United States; the transfer is covered by safeguards recognised under EU law.
- Apple handles subscriptions and payments.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
This website
wisprfood.com is hosted by GitHub Pages. To deliver the pages, GitHub processes your IP address and keeps it in its server logs. The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. The typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, which also receives your IP address when a page loads.
The legal basis
We use your account, household and plan information because you ask us to provide the app (performance of a contract). Diet and allergy information is used with your explicit consent. Limiting the number of fridge scans relies on our legitimate interest in keeping the service available for everyone.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account), your account and everything saved to it are deleted straight away. Copies in our hosting provider's backups are overwritten within its backup cycle, at most 30 days later.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your information, to restrict or object to how we use it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for anything else, write to kesitics.studios@gmail.com and we will reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority; in Spain, that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
Children
WisprFood is meant to be used by adults planning meals for their household. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Children in your household are only counted, so their meals can be sized; we don't ask for their names or ages.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
